I Need Your Advice (please!)

Elizabeth

Note: In case you’re wondering, this post is a follow up to this blog post. (I try my best to respond to each and every comment!)

So I’ve been getting a LOT of e-mails/comments from readers about my previous e-mail and blog post.

Sorry to be a bit reluctant to fully disclose what I’m thinking, but it’s been a long time coming and sometimes it takes courage to bring your thoughts into the light of day. But for the sake of bringing more people to a place of inner peace, here it goes…

As you may or may not know, time coaching has had such an incredible positive impact on the world in ways that I could not hope or imagine.

I never dreamed that I would do coaching and training on six continents and have the opportunity to truly start a movement calling for a greater sense of peace, confidence and meaningful accomplishment in a burnt-out, overwhelmed world.

I’ve been blessed to have helped thousands of people transform their lives for the better and have been deeply touched by witnessing their transformations.

It makes me SO proud when I see my clients and readers building their confidence, gaining focus, claiming their legitimate right to self care and investing in what matters most to them… especially connecting with the most important people in their lives and themselves.

I celebrate their accomplishments as if they were my own and gain so much from their insight and appreciate so deeply their encouragement (One recent comment that I was “worth my weight in gold” made me glow inside for a long time 🙂

So here is where I have been holding out for years…

I’ve been asked if I offer anything other than my one-on-one time coaching program.

And up to right now, I haven’t really had a good answer.

You see, up until now, I haven’t fully given myself over to developing new programs and courses because I’m so committed to only offering people what I believe will really produce results.

I completely believe in my services, and I don’t take on clients where I don’t feel that I’m the right solution.

And when I work with time coaching clients, I not only help them through basic strategies like planning their days and weeks but also offer them support and guidance on whatever is most pressing for them at the moment which could include:

  • Being more assertive at work with setting boundaries and saying, “No,” without guilt
  • Communicating effectively with your boss or significant other on differences in opinion
  • Learning how to modify your cooking habits after you changed to a vegetarian lifestyle
  • Etc., etc., etc.

Seriously, I teach the same principles but adapt the content of each call to address the most pressing needs of the moment because I’m TOTALLY committed to my client’s success so the program is custom tailored to them—down to each stitch.

That’s why the idea of offering a product to you (even a free one!), feels well… uncomfortable.

But as I explained in my last post, 2012 is the Year of Breakthrough. And because I so believe in the transformative power of coaching, I’ve engaged people to coach me on overcoming my own area’s of insecurity that are keeping me from creating the biggest possible positive impact on the world.

And they’ve challenged me (which is good, but makes me feel so vulnerable!) to step out and share more of what I know in a way that could make an impact on SO many more people.

So I’m still doing time coaching through skype and phone with a select group of clients from around the world, but I’m also considering building a Free Product that will help you start to…

  • Live out your dreams of consistently feeling peaceful, confident and accomplished
  • Increase your ability to deal with change, recover from difficulties
  • Feel positive and thankful on a daily basis.

So, I’m Seriously Considering Doing This…

Creating a Free Product on one very specific topic where I open myself up to so much more of you and allow you to enter into the most important part of my life.

You see so often people ask me, how are you so wise and so peaceful at such a young age? And the secret is this…

For the last 18 years, I’ve made daily prayer and meditation the foundation for each and every day. Every morning, I gain perspective and release my worries and concerns and every evening, I process what has happened so that I can sleep peacefully and wake up refreshed.

And through my own experience, and through the lives of so many others, I’ve seen that consistent time for mindfulness, meditation, prayer (whatever you like to call making time for reflection and connection) is the biggest key to living a peaceful, calm, centered life where you feel focused, in control and full of joy.

This is the gift I want to give you: A clear, practical free product that helps you understand…

  • What has been holding you back from making time and space to connect with yourself
  • How to process and release what’s happening to you
  • How to really feel a sense of wholeness

The goal: Peace with yourselves, others and the world.

Instead of giving you more stuff you should do (I know you already have enough partially used journals, unread books, and unheard recordings.) I want to give you specific guidance on how you can actually make the time and space to think, to breathe, to process, to connect with yourself and to higher truth.

Even if…

You struggle with intellectually knowing making space for reflection is good but practically speaking don’t make space to think a priority.

Or if…

When you do have some quiet time, you tend to get distracted or fall asleep (sound familiar? 😉

If I Do This, It Will Take a LOT of Time to Create

I’m excited—no, absolutely thrilled—about the possibility of sharing with you, but I’m aware of how long it can take to do these kind of top-quality products so…

I ONLY want to do this if there’s enough interest.

Here’s what I need to know…

What do you think?

Should I do this?

Would you be interested?

Your feedback and thoughts either through commenting on this post or by sending an e-mail in reply to the newsletter are the fuel that will keep this going.

I don’t want to even think about doing this on top of my time coaching unless there’s enough potential interest.

So please take a second and leave a comment below and let me know what you think.

It would mean a lot to me, and I’ll do my best to respond to every comment.

Your time coach,

Elizabeth

P.S.-SO impressed that you read all the way to the end of this post. You’re awesome! 🙂

Elizabeth, I think this is probably something there’s a very great need for. I can see how this comes up with your time coaching, as calm and centered people tend to manage time more effectively than stressed people (your mom was right when she said you’d make mistakes if you hurried).

The only concern I have is that prayer is an awfully loaded word for a lot of people – and I’d hate to see people who really need your product to be scared away by it. I think your suggestion of “connection” probably works a little better. 😉

I’m a nitpicker by profession, though, so please feel free to disregard.

    Hi Elizabeth,
I most definitely support you creating anything that fills you with joy to share! It will encourage and touch and make a difference to those who are ready to receive it….we always touch at least one person with whatever we create and my sense is your creation will touch many lives. Incorporating reflection time for myself has been huge and would love for more people to practice that for themselves to have greater peace and be in alignment and in tune with their Higher Self a.k.a God 🙂
    Love to you my friend!

In connection with Behance, your articles, and my short time receiving your newsletters, I find a lot of hope as an artist with some very basic hang-ups that permeate my ability to create a daily schedule or to put an hour for “reflection” on my agenda, which is the foundation of my nature.
I’m so glad you have the clientele you need to support your lifestyle, and perhaps you are indicating you would not need extra income from launching videos or conversations with clients of yours that might seek cross promotion.
So I am going to be honest with you in turn and say that I am an artist who often can’t bring myself out of the reflective, contemplative, creative, timeless state of mind enough to pay attention to my day’s agenda. This is exactly opposite of the product you have considered offering, which would be beneficial to a crowd you’d perhaps feel more personally able to connect with due to your experiences.
A product that makes up for the inability to be taken on as a client but still contains the right ingredients for empowerment, like worksheets and interactive release of ‘next steps’, sounds great.
I am extremely interested in anything you put out.

    Hi Elizabeth,

YES from me, and YES from all of the people that you will reach in the multitude of ways!
I am a massage therapist and my client meets with you and mentioned your sight to me-I have been tuned in ever since. I find it up lifting to hear from a like minded person speaking on somthing of great value- our time and choosing how to spend it.
I don’t doubt you know your the answer already, but for what it is woth at a time like now it is great to hear from a person with a healthy voice. Thank you, with blessings to you and what you do- Terri

Sounds great. Would it be an e-book or some kind of online course? I never mind paying a reasonable price for an e-book or online course but hate when the weekly offering consists of a couple of paragraphs or the “book” is five pages or maybe a paragraph on each of 30 pages. Free is great, but I’d pay if enough content was there. Good luck.

The “process and release what’s happening to you” part sounds especially interesting. For instance, when you are doing “all the right things,” but the Universe seems like it still isn’t cooperating with you, no matter how hard you try and no matter how forcefully you keep trying to look in a positive direction, what do you do? When it seems you’ve given everything reasonable a good solid try and now you’re just totally exhausted, what do you do?

  19. Beth Thompson says

    January 27, 2012 at 10:06 pm

    Hmm,
I already set aside time each day for prayer and reflection. I use the Artist’s Way concept of meditation, 3 pages of writing down all that junk in my head first thing in the morning. And when I stop and think about it, I am already living a life I love, and generally having time for people I care for.
So what would interest me is tools to take the life I live now to the next level. Move away from by-the-hour labor and more and more into creative pursuits.
That said, I feel like I am on the right path for that already, and I just need to keep on plugging away, and be patient. But if there was some way to speed up the process—That would totally excite me.
    -Beth

I would VERY much like to hear what you have to say on this topic. Prayer is one of many spiritual practices that helps me focus so that I can more effectively go about my day. When I don’t make time for it, I’m derailed. Who doesn’t need encouragement in this area?? Who doesn’t need new ideas in this area if they’re already practicing? I can’t think of a more effective topic than this to assert your gifts of structure.

    YEAH!!!

Thanks for all your support and comments my friends.

Please keep them coming–they are truly the fuel that can make this happen.

To reply to a few of your specific feedback/questions:

-Colleen & Dominic–thanks for letting me know your thoughts on mentioning prayer. I really want this resource to be open to everyone who seeks a greater sense of mindfulness and peace, not just those with some kind of faith background.

-Sarah & Beth–the kind of support you were talking about with getting your ideas into action and taking your life and business to the next level are what I offer with one-on-one time coaching.

-Bonnie–Yes! I’ll be sure to offer meaningful, actionable content that has depth.

-Alice–Great point and something that we’ll be exploring if this goes forward.

All–thank you again for your support and please stay tuned.

I only want to move forward with this if it will make a big positive impact on the world.

The whole point of this is to serve you better.

    To your brilliance!

    Hi Elizabeth,

I love your newsletter and i think it would be very beneficial to many people to learn about the spiritual practices that loosen/get rid of all the “gunk” in your mind! That being said, i have no idea if you were planning to mention the word “god” or “creator”, but both of those words are very loaded, as well. I suggest “the universe” since that doesn’t necessarily apply to any religion. It could be used by people of no religion or any religion. I’ really looking forward to your new product!

    Thanks,

    Jenny

    Dear Elizabeth,

I think helping people find the space to reflect and connect, and have a concrete “how” as to how to go about it I think would be a great blessing. It’s come up in my coaching training how many successful people have such a habit.

    Love,
    Dad

  28. Anthea Scott says

    I know I need this!
I have bought a bunch of meditation books and Cd’s but I know that actually developing a regular practice is the only thing that is going to make the change I want in my life…
And this is the year I have decided to do it. So if you were to offer something to help I would be in for sure.
I too am uncomfortable with prayer as I term and a concept (as a disillusioned Catholic) and yet see the benefit of having faith.

  29. Allison says

    January 29, 2012 at 1:51 pm

If it’s in your heart, then go for it! Nothing can substitute for the gold mine that is 1:1 time with you, but I think if focused well, this kind of product would help spark people’s self-reflection in ways they haven’t even imagined could improve their lives. I also think this kind of product would have made the decision to work with you less stressful upfront because contracting with someone you don’t know could be awesome or disastrous. For me, it’s been one of the single-most valuable collaborations I’ve embarked on. And I know having a window into the way you work would have made the decision to work together a slam dunk! Man, am I glad I took the leap! To YOUR brilliance, Elizabeth!

This is my year to finally transform my life into the life I love. I have spent nearly 58 years stressing, struggling and often resenting life. In the past 6-9 months I have finally taken a different approach with very positive results. However this is just the beginning. I have so much further to travel. What you are proposing sounds like an answer to prayer. Please move forward for all of us.

    Elizabeth,

You have my prayer and support, you have always been a go getter, not afraid not take the next steps. God works wonders through you and I know he will continue to shine.

I have two things to relay to you.

    1) You have to listen to the song “What Faith Can Do” by Kutless, it is my favorite song right now. Espically verse two:

“It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard
    Impossible is not a word
It’s just a reason for someone not to try
    Everybody’s scared to death
When they decide to take that step
    Out on the water
    It’ll be alright
    Life is so much more
Than what your eyes are seeing
    You will find your way
    If you keep believing

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
    Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
    I’ve seen miracles just happen
    Silent prayers get answered
    Broken hearts become brand new
    That’s what faith can do”

I LOVE the part abut impossible not beign a word, it is taped to my desk right now…reminding me that no matter what people say I can take the next steps to being the person God created me to be.

    2) Looking to Hebrews 12:
“10 For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. 11 No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

12 So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. 13 Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.”

You are an amazing sister in Christ and God is using you to change the lives of people. Take this leap of faith…and see how many other lives will be chaged because of you faithfulness.

    Love from DM 🙂
    Rose

Elizabeth – Yes! As someone who has only recently found a spiritual connection again, and is still struggling to practice it every day, this would be awesome. I am a member of Al-Anon, the program of recovery for friends and family of alcoholics. Their program uses the words “God, as we understood him” and a “Power greater than ourselves” in referencing God, etc. If it were not for that wording, I would likely not have stayed with Al-anon and found a spirtual connection to the world again.

So, I say yes, bring it on. I enjoy all you share and look forward to more!

Thank you to all of you again for your awesome comments!

It seems like there’s definitely a desire for not just the “what” to do during times of reflection, but HOW to actual get this into practice on a regular basis.

The momentum seems to be building for a program on making this a ritual so expect to hear more from me in the coming days.

Special thanks to Allison–it is a JOY to be your coach. I know nothing can replace 1-on-1 coaching but at least this can allow more people to get the hope and inspiration for one area of change they desire.

    To all of your brilliance!

I’m very new to your site and have been reading and watching your videos the past couples days. I have to say that the one thing that strikes me about you is that I can tell that you genuinely care. And I truly believe that you want the best for each and every person that you come in contact with. Thank you. 🙂

As far as a free version – I’d be very interested. God has really been moving me towards a better understanding of how I’m using my time and what I need to do to be more effective – and it’s a hard transition to make even though it’s a necessary one. I’m not at a point financially where I can pay for such advice even though it sounds amazing.
